Plasma Skin Tightening
Plasma Skin Tightening is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to eliminate excess skin. Low risk, minimal downtime and more affordable then surgery. Plasma Skin Tightening is known for it's success with Non Surgical Eye lift, Skin Tag Removal, Tummy Tightening, Stretch Marks and so much more.
The term “Soft Surgery” is used to describe the treatment because it delivers results similar to surgery, with no scalpel, stitches or bandages and minimal downtime. A minimally invasive procedure with much lower risk and at a more affordable price then actual surgery.
HOW DOES PLASMA SKIN TIGHTENING WORK?
Plasma Pen Treatment
Plasma Pen (PPT) is our newest machine that harnesses the power of plasma, a fourth state matter (Solid, Liquid, Gas, Plasma), to help reduce or eliminate certain skin conditions and concerns, such as wrinkles, fine lines, moles, skin tags, etc.
Through the process of ionization, our PPT unit creates an electric charge, or ARC. This arc is focused on a target on the surface of the skin, which causes a controlled burn, which dissipates heat throughout the area being targeted. This technique causes the elimination of moles, skin tags and pigmentation, etc. Moreover, the dissipation of heat throughout the skin being targeted causes your body to send fibroblasts to the area and lay down collagen and elastin fibers, which promotes plumping and tightening of the skin.
Plasma Skin Tightening is a relatively new innovation in the beauty industry in North America but has been used for a number of years in Europe. The extremely accurate device works by utilizing the voltage in the air between its tip and the skin, to form a plasma charge. An electrical arc is created and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. The tissue retraction and tightening gives results that are comparable to invasive surgery.
The Plasma Skin Tightening method has many advantages over cosmetic surgery, which makes it an increasingly popular treatment. There is no cutting of the skin, which means that there are no stitches required, and clients can return to work much sooner.
WHAT IS IT USED TO TREAT?
Plasma Skin Tightening is able to treat a number of imperfections without any actual cutting of the skin. It can be used for:
Eyelid Tightening, including lower eyelids and excess upper eyelid skin.
Skin imperfections, including skin tags and sunspots.
Improvement in the appearance of acne scars
Diminishing Stretch marks.
Tightening loose stomach skin after pregnancy.
Lines and wrinkles around the mouth.
Plasma Facelift and Plasma Neck lift.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
As Plasma Skin Tightening is more than a simple tightening treatment, skin is actually removed, so the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of plasma treatment are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further ageing. But, the positive results should last you years depending on the area treated. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen after 4 weeks. For some, an additional treatment may be required after 6 weeks for maximum results. Additionally, there are lifestyle factors that can prevent the result from lasting as long as they can, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure. Those planning on treatment should also be aware that their race and genetics can also have an effect of the length of beneficial effects.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
The number of treatments required will vary according to the condition being treated, skin's laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most clients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the course of the following 8 weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to get better results, although it is uncommon to require more than two treatments. Appointments must be spaced out by 8 weeks.
WHAT TO EXPECT-SIDE EFFECTS AND RISKS
Plasma Skin Tightening has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature. Still the majority of clients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the 7-10 days following treatment.
There will be some tiny brown marks that have the appearance of minor scabbing, which are carbon crusts, but in 7-10 days these will flake away, revealing new pink skin beneath. Some swelling will be seen (especially in cases of eyelid treatment), but it is likely to only last 3-5 days at most. Swelling in the eye area is to be expected for a few days following an upper eyelid treatment. To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation, follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your technician.
NOT TO BE USED IN
As with the majority of cosmetic procedures, Plasma Skin Tightening should not be used on women who are pregnant or breast feeding. Although some darker skin types are suitable for the soft surgery procedure, it is not advised for those with very dark skin. This is because there is a higher risk of hyperpigmentation (dark spots) or hypopigmentation (light spots) following treatment.
Day of Treatment
On the treatment day, it is recommended that no make-up is worn on the treatment area. We suggest taking an anti-histamine 60 minutes prior to your appointment to help with swelling and continue to take anti-histamines for 2-3 days following your appointment.
numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for up to 45 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the plasma tip, spaced closely together. You may feel some heat in the treatment area, which may be uncomfortable and slightly irritating. Treatment time is usually between 10-40 minutes, depending on the size of the area.
Immediately after treatment the area will be red and mildly swollen with small crustations and discoloration. You may experience a sensation similar to a sun burn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days. The crustations/discoloration should resolve within 5 -12 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results are seen instantly after the treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 8 weeks. Essentially there is downtime, but it is considerably less then with surgery.
Following treatment you will be given thorough aftercare instructions to ensure that you see the best results. . In the week following treatment (or until the treatment area has fully healed) an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used. Instead opt for a pH balanced soap (dove), and avoid rubbing the area.
The majority of people are safe to drive following their Plasma Skin Tightening procedure as swelling does not set in until later that day.

Does it hurt?
The treatment can be uncomfortable, and really depends on your pain threshold. For a comfortable experience we recommend attending your appointment on time to allow the topical anesthetic application to have the required time to absorb and take effect in the areas you would like to have treated. The topical anesthetic is applied for 30 mins for the best effect.
What is involved with the treatment?
Your practitioner will apply topical anesthetic to the skin’s surface for 30 mins prior to the treatment, the cream will be removed and the treatment using a small, hand help pen shaped device will apply the treatment. A 60 min appointment is allocated to allow you to relax and receive your after-care advice prior to leaving the clinic.
How long will it be before I see results?
An immediate tightening will be seen with the plasma pen and dermal fillers. Once healing has taken place you will see an improvement in skin condition and tone.
Collagen production and skin tightening gets progressively better over 10-24 weeks and continues to improve up to a year later.
How long does it last?
Once collagen is formed, the natural ageing process of breaking down the collagen will then take place. Intrinsic and extrinsic factors can contribute to the collagen breakdown such as UV exposure and smoking. However, depending on the amount of sagging skin, sometimes it may require more than a single session.
How many treatments will I need?
This is a single treatment, but depending on the skin laxity, more than one treatment may be required.
How will my skin look?
The skin will have multiple millimeter trauma marks to the skin’s surface, and as healing occurs the skin will appear dry and flaky. In the first couple of days, redness and swelling will be present. Every individual will vary, others may have more swelling, whereas some may swell for over a week. Pigmentation from the small marks can be present for longer if the scabs come away earlier than expected, for example when lying on one side of the face whilst sleeping.
What are the side effects and risks involved?
Tenderness, redness and swelling are common side effects and are to be expected following the treatment. As the skin starts to heal, itching may occur. After care gel that is included in the price of the treatment, should be used to alleviate the side effects. Other side effects are not limited to but may include slight redness for a few weeks after the treatment, with a risk of scarring, infection and hyperpigmentation (darker skin) or hypopigmentation (lighter skin), being rare but possible.
Are there any specific after care tips?
You will be required to stay out of direct sun light during the healing process. Whilst the scabs are still present you won’t be able to get the areas wet such as having a shower, steam room, swimming or sweating from exercising.
How do I prepare for the procedure?
It is important to have a test patch prior to the treatment. No active sun exposure is important with no active tan being present for the test patch and treatment. We suggest not to apply any cosmetics beforehand, and you should let us know about any recent medical conditions and medications taken.
Is there anything I should do after the treatment?
We advise that you don’t take a hot shower on the day of the treatment, and to keep the area dry for the duration of the scabs being present. It is advised that you don’t apply make-up to the area for the duration of the scabs, as attempting to remove the makeup at the end of the day, can cause the micro scabs to come away from the skin too early and cause scarring. Sun exposure should be avoided for 4 weeks after the treatment, sunblock application is highly recommended for 4 to 6 weeks after the initial treatment.
What are the contraindications to having the treatment?
Reasons you may not be suitable for the treatment are due to the following. In which case, we would ask for a specialist’s letter stating that they are happy for you to proceed with the treatment, where applicable:
Metal plates or pins
Severe circulatory deficiencies, ischemic tissue, thrombosis, severe uncontrolled blood pressure
Severe Cardiovascular conditions
Current or recent hemorrhage
Malignancy and chemotherapy in the past 3 years.
We need to be cautious with certain illnesses, Cosmedic-Ink will confirm your full medical history prior to commencing any treatments.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment takes less than 30 mins; however, we allow 60 mins per treatment to ensure that you’re happy with the treatment choice and to ensure you’re happy to proceed. The skin is treated, and an after-care cream is applied.
Are the results after the treatment permanent?
Yes. Once new collagen is stimulated, new collagen is formed. It doesn’t, however, stop the ageing process, therefore the natural ageing and collagen breakdown will occur. You can help reduce the natural ageing by protecting the skin from further UVA rays and external environmental damage.
What are the advantages over surgery?
